Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago Audition Announcement
Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago (OSC) will be accepting audition submissions through
February 1, 2019
The pay per service is from $75 to $100 depending on the type of concert
The content of the audition submission is as follows:
Violin
• First movement from a Classical period solo work with cadenza
• Scherzo from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, measure 17 until 99
• Orchestral excerpt of candidate’s choice
Viola
• First movement from a Classical period solo work with cadenza
• Scherzo from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, measure 17 to letter D
• Orchestral excerpt of candidate’s choice
Cello
• First movement from a Classical period solo work with cadenza
• Recitative from the 4th movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9
• Orchestral excerpt of candidate’s choice
Double Bass
• Orchestral excerpt from first movement of a Classical period symphony
• Recitative from the 4th movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9
• Orchestral excerpt of candidate’s choice
Substitute list for Woodwinds and Brass
• Any first movement from a Classical period, solo work
• Two excerpts of candidate’s choice
